Sarah Marze
Hello there!
I'm Sarah, a composer, soprano and conductor. I am an advocate for inclusive and accessible contemporary classical music experiences. Much of my work involves telling stories, highlighting local voices and working in pedagogical contexts.
I am currently studying both voice and composition at the University of Connecticut. I'm the co-founder of the UConn Composer-Ensemble Collaboration, which has successfully mounted three concerts of student works.
In Fall 2023, I will be pursuing a MMus in Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Currently, I am working on a chamber opera about an influencer gone mad with Alize Rozsnyai.

Collaboration with Bard College students
Holy moly --- what incredible vocalism and acting here! The first song was a new commission just for this recital, and expanded the character of Abigail from the song cycle "Songs of Salem, 1692."
I love this performance from four graduate students at Bard College, Teryn Kuzma, Sungyeun Kim, Francesca Lionetta and Diana Borschcheva.
The Deep: Three Solos for Organ
"At first glance, the organ is an odd choice for a piece about jellyfish. However, you will soon hear that no single instrument is better equipped to handle the majestic backdrop of the deep ocean and the delicate shimmering of bioluminescence at the same time."

CT Poetry Society "Spring Fling"
I had the joy of being the keynote speaker for the Connecticut Poetry Society event this June! I spoke about the combination of poetry and art song, as well as collaboration tips for poets interested in working with a composer. In addition, I performed three art songs in English with the help of Ted Babbitt on piano.
